Before retiring from financial services, James W. Murphy, from Tucson, Arizona, worked in commercial lending. His career in financial services involved overseeing the loan approval process for construction financing. This process involved connecting with managers about credit policies, procedures, standards, and credit lines. James W. Murphy also advised clients regarding loan options, collected their financial information, and worked with financial institutions concerning complicated loan packages.

While in banking, Mr. Murphy volunteered with multiple area organizations, including the Tucson Diaper Bank and the Habi Store. He raised money as a member of the Catalina Foothills Kiwanis Club for children with special needs.
